My interest in integrative pet care comes from personal experience. About the time I started veterinary studies, I found myself suffering from severe back pain. My doctors could do little to relive my pain except to offer me the option of surgery. Instead, I found an acupuncturist and a homeopath who brought me back to health. During my recovery, I became interested in using alternative medicine to compliment what I was learning in school. While I was studying for my veterinary degree, I also undertook apprenticeships with acupuncture and homeopathy practitioners. This allowed me to develop my own blend of western and holistic medicine that I've used during most of my professional career.
One of my other big interests is animal behavior. Over the years, I've observed a high correlation between certain behaviors and specific physical afflictions. This led me to take several seminars on various aspects of the links between animal behavior and health. This is one of many reasons I've adopted my "open door" policy, encouraging my patients (and their owners) to drop by for a tasty treat and a casual visit - even when they're feeling fine. In fact, I often enjoy going out with clients for a chat over a cup of coffee to try to resolve some unwanted behavioral issues.
I look forward to meeting you & your pet!
